Native from Mexico City, Mexico, Lety holds a Law Degree from National Autonomous University of Mexico, followed by Graduate School in European Studies at Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gassett/Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Madrid, Spain.
Combining her passion for public service and academia, while teaching International Law at her Alma Mater for eight years, served as Assistant Director first at the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and later at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico’s Federal Government. Under her responsibilities were training activities for Civil Society Organizations involved in foreign policy, through dialogues with the European Union and the United Nations System, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP) and, the G-20 Summit.
Before joining SIUE in 2020, Lety worked at St. Louis County government at the Department of Transportation and Public Works, and Children’s Service Fund.
