Request for Services
Our priority is to oversee the development and maintenance of psychological well-being on our campus. To accomplish this goal, we use a three-pronged approach: Direct provision of clinical services to SIUE students, consultation for faculty/staff, and education/professional development for all members of the campus community. In addition to this core function, we are a training center, supporting the clinical, supervisory and research acumen of mental health providers across disciplines and levels of education.
Below are the general categories of requests we receive:
- Materials - Select this option if you are seeking psychoeducational content (information on mental health concerns, well-being, thriving, flourishing and student development).
- Presentations - Select this option if you are seeking a presentation or workshop on topic broadly defined under the categories of mental health concerns, well-being, thriving, flourishing, and student development.
- Interview - Select this option if you are seeking an interview with a member of the Counseling Services senior staff for the Alestle or a class assignment.
If you would like to request an Outreach related event, please click on the following link and complete the Qualtrics survey. A staff member will then follow up with you to gain additional information for planning purposes.
We typically request a minimum of 30 days' notice for optimal planning and to accommodate scheduling.
Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training
Counseling Services staff are available to provide training for campus community members to increase competency in suicide prevention and awareness using AFSP's Talk Saves Lives and/or It's Real curriculum. Mental Health First Aid is also available for campus community members, which provides suicide prevention and awareness content, along with broad subject matters related to mental health.
If interested in scheduling a training, please complete the Qualtrics Outreach Request Form using the quick click above.
SIUE Counseling Services and Health Services' Interview Policy
We strive to inform members of our campus community about mental health, well-being practices, and the services we provide. Since we are most focused on supporting students in meeting their physical and mental health needs, we may honor requests to be interviewed.
Requests for an interview must follow the procedure below.
- All requests for interviews with Counseling, Health Service, or Health Promotions staff will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Health Promotions and Outreach Specialist using the outreach request form. Interviews are typically conducted by leadership or designated representatives, as appropriate.
- Requests for class projects will be reviewed and scheduled if the material is not readily available on our website. Interview questions must be submitted in advance. This allows for preparation and supporting an accurate exchange of information.
- Due to the high demand for clinical and non-clinical services in our office, we cannot provide interviews on short notice. Please submit your request a minimum of 7 days in advance to accommodate schedules.
- Media and student publication interview requests (including The Alestle) are coordinated in partnership with University Marketing and Communications to ensure accurate, consistent messaging. Requests should be submitted through University Marketing and Communications, who will work collaboratively with Cougar Care as appropriate.
