About the ELIAS Program
The Experiential Learning in Applied Statistics Program is a statewide program in Illinois with the goal of preparing students for careers in the data-driven agricultural and life sciences. Students are supported for their junior and senior years of their undergraduate studies and are provided with the following benefits:
- $10,400 stipend per year ($20,800 total!)
- On-campus research experience, with the option of working during the summer or the academic year
- $500 to conduct their own independent research projects
- All expenses paid travel to a research conference to present their research, up to $1,000
- Real-world experience with data science tools and field, laboratory, or greenhouse research
- Preparation for graduate school
- Networking with industry and government professionals
- Mentorship from at least two faculty members for two years
