Mr. Stephen Duda is a full-time Instructor with the Department of Construction, School of Engineering, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He holds Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degrees from the University of Dayton. In 2020, Mr. Duda retired from a 35-year career as a practicing engineer in the HVAC, construction, and building services engineering industries. He has the practical experience of having been employed by a general contractor, an architectural firm, and a consulting engineering design firm which specialized in design-build construction. He joined the faculty of SIUE in 2020 and brings to the classroom the perspective of the successful practitioner of the arts and sciences of engineering and construction. Mr. Duda is a Fellow of ASHRAE, a LEED Accredited Professional, a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma honor societies, and a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and Missouri. He is the author of 30 peer-reviewed published conference papers or journal articles, recipient of the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award, and recipient of the ASHRAE George B. Hightower Technical Achievement Award.
