Two MME faculty members and a graduate student were inventors of two patents presented at the Research Reception

In the 2023 Provost's Celebration of Research Reception held on April 4, 2023, the graduate school announced two patents to the SIUE community, both of them has contributions by the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. The first patent is “Pathogen Transport Modelled Biomimetic Sensor, Sensing Method, and Fresh Produce Sanitization”, and the joint inventors are MME faculty member Dr. Kamran Shavezipur, Dr. Mina Sumita of Chemistry Department, and ME graduate student Roya Mazrouei. The second patent is "Multifunctional Camera System for Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery", and the joint inventors are SIU School of Medicine faculty member Dr. Traves Crabtree of, ECE faculty member Dr. Tim York, ECE alumnus Mitch McKay, and Dr. Mingshao Zhang.
