MME Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus, Dr. Keqin Gu, received two prestigious awards recently.
Posted October 2, 2025
1) The first award was “Delay Systems Life-Time Achievement Award” given on July 1, 2025 by the IFAC (International Federation on Automatic Control) Linear Systems Committee during the Joint Conference 9th IFAC Symposium on System Structure and Control, 19th IFAC Workshop on Time Delay Systems and 2nd IFAC Workshop on Control of Complex Systems held in Paris, June 30-July 2, 2025. According to the award letter by Dr. Elena Zattoni, the Chair of the IFAC Technical Committee 2.2, the award was determined by the Selection Committee, composed of preeminent members of the international control science community. The committee has selected him to receive this award to recognize his exceptional and sustained contributions to the field of delay systems, as well as his long-standing commitment to the IFAC community. The award is given to up to three prominent scholars in this field of research every three years. In addition to Dr. Gu, 2025 Delay Systems Life-Time Achievement Award was also given to Dr Miroslav Krstic, Senior Vice-Chancellor for Research at University of California at San Diego, United States, and Dr. Vladimir Rasvan of University of Craiova, Romania.
2) 2) The second award was C.S. Hsu Award given on August 4, 2025 during the 2025 Nonlinear Science and Complexity Conference held in Rio Claro, Brazil in August 4-8, 2025. C.S. Hsu Award was established to recognize outstanding scholars for their contributions in the field of control systems for nonlinear and complex systems. Dr Gu delivered his award lecture “Coupled differential-difference equations: Generality, stability region, sensitivity to small delays, and computational efficiency” in the conference.
