The SIUE East St. Louis Center has been inspiring, preparing and connecting youth and young adults to the resources they need to succeed and strengthening communities for nearly 60 years. The SIUE East St. Louis Center is dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals from pre-school through adulthood in the Metro East region.
The SIUE East St. Louis Center is shaping the future of this region by:- Providing quality learning environments that help underserved youth harness their potential and expand their skills.
- Preparing youth and adults for post-secondary education and for the careers in high demand fields.
- Building community. By connecting individuals and community stakeholders and provide resources to help advance the region’s top priorities.
With an annual budget of more than $14 million, programs at the East St. Louis Center prepare more than 2,000 youth in grades Pre-K-12 each year for successful futures.
Our Programs
- Head Start/Early Head Start - Addressing the needs of children birth-age 5, including children with special needs, throughout St. Clair County. The program also provides services to expectant mothers.
- TRIO Upward Bound - Upward Bound is a federally funded college preparatory program for students in high school.
- East St. Louis Center for the Performing Arts - Performing Arts After-School/Summer Program for children ages 6-17.
- Project Success - An after-school, tutorial enrichment childcare program serving children ages 5-14 years of age who are in protective custody and are referred by the Department of Children and Family Services.
- Building Futures - Assists young adults, ages 15-20, who need additional support and encouragement to pursue their career paths.
- East St. Louis Charter High School - The SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School (CHS) is a school of choice for families in East St. Louis School District 189. Its mission is to prepare students to be career- and college- ready upon graduation.
- Learning Resource Center - The SIUE East St. Louis Learning Resource Center (LRC) is a full-service public library focusing on youth and adult community outreach.
