Proposal Editing Services
Purpose
This program offers support for proofreading and editing services to improve the quality of proposals being submitted to external sponsors. Editing services available include proofreading of grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation and format as well as content if requested.
Award Description
Funding is provided to pay for a proofreading and editing service chosen by the Graduate School.
Application Procedures
An editing request must be made a minimum of five days prior to the agency’s required proposal submission date. Access the application in Kuali Build [Proposal Editing Services]. Complete the application with the requested information including all required attachments and submit the form. Once the application has completed the review process you will be notified of the status of your request. The editing company will send the edited document to you within 48 hours.
Terms and Conditions
Proposal for which editing occurs must be submitted within 6 months of receipt of the edited narrative.

Submissions/submitters will be evaluated for eligibility.
Eligibility
All full-time continuing members of the faculty (tenure and non-tenure track), staff, and postdoctoral fellows and visiting assistant professors who are submitting a proposal to an external sponsor and who meet the following conditions are eligible. Eligibility requires that SIUE is the faculty member's home institution at time of submission.
- The PI can make use of this program no more than twice in a fiscal year.
- The PI must have met all terms and conditions for previous awards from the Graduate School.
- The PI must have created the proposal development document in Kuali Research associated with the proposal submitted for editing and started the approval process at least 10 business days prior to the submission deadline.
- The Direct Cost (i.e. amount not including indirect costs) of the proposal is at least $10,000.
- The complete draft narrative is uploaded in the application following the above guidelines at least 5 business days prior to the submission deadline.
