New Department of Energy (DOE) Research Security Training Requirements

Effective May 1, 2025, the Department of Energy (DOE) will require all covered individuals to complete research security training prior to proposal submission. Covered individuals will now need to certify they have completed research security training within one year of application date. The DOE interprets this as the 12 months immediately preceding the application date. Researchers have several training options through the online CITI Program that will satisfy the research security training requirement. Please visit the Export Control & Research Security page located here to learn more. CITI Program and log in information can be found here.
*Please be advised, it is expected the research security training requirement will become a requirement from all federal sponsors in 2025.
