The Center for Predictive Analytics (C-PAN) was founded in response to the growing need for data scientists across all disciplines. Although computational power continues to advance, and high volumes of data can now be collected and stored, many data resources remain untapped. C-PAN is dedicated to the development of innovative data analysis solutions that enable our industry, government and academic partners to utilize their data to its fullest potential while also providing real-world training opportunities to the next generation of data scientists.

Headed by Director Carrie Bitts-Wilmsmeyer, CPAN offers many opportunities for collaboration.

Research and Consultation

• Data analysis, including data mining, integrating multiple datasets, data curation, data summarization and visualization, and model development
• Development of complex algorithms and machine learning tools
• Design step-by-step data analysis pipeline for your company’s specific needs
• Consultation regarding anything from navigating different data analysis options to designing research studies
• Independent third-party evaluation
• Development of metrics and indices involving many variables
• Logistic planning, process optimization and forecasting

Workforce Training

• Workshops and continuing education in data analytics and machine learning
• Pipeline for student placement through internships

Campus

• Bolstering student success by identifying critical time points for intervention
• Evaluating new course structures and educational tools in the classroom
• Identifying potential remedies to high DFW (D, F or Withdraw) rates
• Undergraduate and graduate experiential learning opportunities
• Create tools and data solutions for university-wide initiatives
• Data analytics and statistical support, including preparing preliminary data for grant submission, data analysis and visualization, and preparing data for presentation and publication

SIU System

• Monitoring the System Strategic Plan and its Key Performance Indicators. Click here to view.
• Working with the Implementation Teams and key individuals at SIU-Edwardsville, SIU-Carbondale, and the SIU School of Medicine to execute the Strategic Plan
• Building dashboards and other reporting tools to help inform System initiatives.
