Office Hours with ORP: Dr. Jerrica Ampadu

Over the last seven years, Dr. Ampadu has secured more than $10 million in funding. In the video link below Dr. Jerrica Ampadu, Interim Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs in Nursing and the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for SIUE’s School of Nursing, shares her experiences in working with SIUE’s Office of Research and Projects.
Dr. Jerrica V. Ampadu is an Associate Professor at SIUE, where she currently serves as the Interim Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs in Nursing and the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She is also the Principal Investigator for the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention (NEPQR) Mobile Health Training Program and the Asthma Trigger Assessment Program. Previously, Dr. Ampadu served for four years as Director of the We Care Clinic, a nurse-managed clinic, dedicated to improving access to care for underserved populations. Her areas of expertise include health equity, workforce diversity, access to care for underserved populations, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.
In addition to securing funding, Dr. Ampadu, in line with her responsibilities as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was involved with nurse educator recruitment efforts for the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration grant to increase Nursing Workforce Diversity and Readiness to Practice Utilizing an Innovative 4R (Recruit, Retain, Readiness, Revision). Dr Ampadu is also involved with the IBHE’s IMAGINE (Increasing Mentorship and Graduation in Nursing Education) Summer Success Academy and was honored as one of the YWCA’s ten 2025 Women of Distinction for her commitment to the community.
