Due to the limited number of applications allowed by institutions, all SIUE faculty interested in submitting an NIH BRE-SPAD proposal must submit a letter of intent in Kuali Build no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
About the Program
NIH's Biomedical Research Environment & Sponsored Programs Administration Development (BRE-SPAD) program's aim is to promote broad participation in biomedical research by supporting resource-limited institutions to conduct research, enhance their research environments, and increase sponsored programs administration capacity (PAR-24-268). It is only accepting applications that do not propose clinic trials. This is a cooperative agreement grant. Direct cost should not exceed $500,000 per year. The maximum project period is five years.
SIUE Internal Competition Submission Deadlines
- Notice of Intent Deadline: fifth Wednesday in October (October 29, 2025) by 4:30 p.m. submitted via Kuali Build Application.
- Should an internal Competition be required, you will receive a notification via email from Kuali Build to upload your Pre-Submission Materials (single pdf in the order indicated) by4:30 on the third Wednesday of November (November 19, 2025).
- Proposal Routed in Kuali Research: Second Tuesday in January (January 13, 2026).
- NIH Full Application Deadline: Fourth Tuesday in January (January 27, 2026). The proposal is fully routed through Kuali Research and submitted in Research.gov with the assistance of the SIUE Office of Research and Projects.
