Below is messaging that has been received from NIH and NSF since the government reopening, as we learn more from other agencies we will share their updates.
Communication from NIH
On November 14, 2025, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued NOT-OD-26-005: Interim Guidance on Reopening of NIH Extramural Activities.
Although the notice states NIH will reschedule all October and November grant application deadlines, SIUE advises applicants to not take any action at this time if they submitted applications during the shutdown and to wait for the release of future guidance referenced in the notice.

Information for the research community
We thank you for your patience during the lapse in appropriations. NSF will be operating under a continuing resolution that runs until January 30. We will prioritize the most pressing issues, including restoring the capacity to make awards and ensuring continued management and oversight of existing awards. Our hardworking staff will be focused on these activities, and we again ask for your patience as we do so.
If you are a current NSF awardee, please contact your program officer with any questions. If you are a panelist or have a pending proposal, please continue to monitor NSF.gov for updates on our operations and events.
