Dr. Angela Andrews earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. She joined the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Nursing faculty in 2012 and has taught primarily in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Research, and Nurse Educator courses. Dr. Andrews currently serves as an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs.
Dr. Andrews is part of the School of Nursing (SON) team that was awarded a $1,050,000 grant through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The three-year project entitled, “Increasing Nursing Workforce Diversity and Readiness to Practice utilizing an Innovative 4R (Recruit, Retain, Readiness & Revisions) Approach” focuses on recruitment of students and faculty with emphasis on diversifying the nursing workforce and retention of pre-nursing and nursing students.
In 2023, Dr. Andrews was named to the 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders in Illinois. The award was established by the Illinois Nurses Foundation to highlight and celebrate young nurse leaders who are impacting healthcare and the nursing profession. Additionally, in the same year, Dr. Andrews also received SIUE’s Teaching Distinction Award, a recognition of faculty who are innovative, influential, and impactful as it relates to pedagogy and learning.
