Reminder Research Security Training Requirements

Reminder effective October 10, 2025, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has required all covered individuals listed on an NSF proposal to have completed research security training within 12 months prior to proposal submission. Please see NSF’s research security policies updates and training requirements for R&D financial assistance awards located here. Additionally USA, DOE, and NIH have started to require it.
Researchers have several training options through the online CITI Program that will satisfy the research security training requirement. Please visit the Export Control & Research Security page located here to learn more. CITI Program and log in information can be found here.
*Please be advised, it is expected the research security training requirement will become a requirement from all federal sponsors in 2025. Taking the research security training now may prevent possible delays in future proposal submission.
