Call for Ideas Launched for Suffrage Monument
Posted April 15, 2026
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation is inviting creatives nationwide to contribute ideas that will shape the vision for the National Mall’s sole monument dedicated to women’s history. Dubbed 'Monumental Ideas,' this program encourages participants to submit diverse creative expressions—ranging from drawings and poems to sculptures and photographs—that capture what they envision for the 2.5-acre monument dedicated to women’s suffrage. Of the approximately 40 statues and memorials that dot the National Mall, it will be the only one to honor women’s history.
- Artists interested in participating can submit their ideas through the online submission page at org/monumental-ideas-submission/.
- The deadline for submissions is July 4, 2026, at 11:59 pm ET. Whether submitting a single idea or multiple concepts, contributors are encouraged to reflect on what women’s suffrage history means to them and what future generations should remember when visiting the monument.
The Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation, a nonpartisan nonprofit authorized by Congress, aims to create a monument that honors the suffragists who fought for women’s voting rights and transformed American democracy. Their mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the women who shaped the nation’s democracy and inspire continued pursuit of liberty and equality for all.
