Compliance Highlight: Amazon shutting down Mechanical Turk

AWS Mechanical Turk (MTurk) will close on September 30, 2026. MTurk is a “crowdsourcing marketplace that makes it easier for individuals and businesses to outsource their processes and jobs to a distributed workforce who can perform these tasks virtually.” Some of those jobs included research and surveys.
If you have an approved protocol that currently uses Amazon MTurk, please check out these FAQs to prepare for the closure. If you’ll be continuing your research with a similar platform following the closure, you’ll need to submit an amendment in Kuali Research prior to making the switch to the new platform.
