Who We Are
GeoMARC (Geospatial Mapping, Applications, and Research Center) is evolving into a geospatial “think tank” that operates similarly to a teaching hospital. GeoMARC provides technological and intellectual support to local and regional communities by engaging in geospatially related projects, educating the next generation’s workforce, and providing solutions to geographic problems through applied research and development.
Founded in 1995 as the Laboratory for Applied Spatial Analysis (LASA), GeoMARC was established in 2021 as an IHBE-sanctioned research center to continue our journey as a leader in geospatial research, technology, education, and solutions. Since its inception, GeoMARC has initiated and maintained collaborations, research, contracts, and partnerships with federal, state, county, and local governments/agencies, universities, NGOs, multinational corporations, private companies, and startups. As geospatial technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, we continue to focus on data quality and integrity and on providing rigorous solutions, all while developing cutting-edge methodologies and domain knowledge.
