Graduate Studies Mission Statement
Graduate Studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville fosters student inquiry and lifelong learning by ensuring high quality graduate programs and comprehensive graduate student support services. Graduate Studies:
- advances holistic, inclusive cross-campus graduate student support services
- administers programs that promote academic inquiry and dissemination and recognize graduate student excellence
- maintains administrative processes that support recruitment, admissions, retention, and degree completion of graduate students as well as graduate assistant employment
- maintains administrative processes that support post-baccalaureate program development, assessment and review

Graduate Studies will strive to maximize efficiency and clarity in all administrative processes.
Office of Research & Projects
ORP Mission
SIUE’s Office of Research and Projects (ORP) serves as the central resource for research and creative activities of the SIUE community in support of the University’s broader mission. ORP facilitates the conduct of sponsored research by:
- ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements, applicable regulations, and University policies from inception to closeout;
- continuously striving for more transparent and efficient processes, policies, and tools to better create a collaborative research environment
- balancing the University’s mission, the sponsor’s objectives, and the investigator’s intellectual pursuits.
ORP Vision
SIUE’s Office of Research and Projects will lead the University in achieving its goals by providing an engaging and ethical research environment. ORP will help build sustainability for the future and lasting partnerships for faculty and students through the successful pursuit and management of sponsored projects and by promoting a campus culture of research integrity and compliance, to help SIUE researchers in pursuit of impactful research.
