How long will review of my human subjects research protocol take?

Review times can depend on a variety of factors. Average review times by review category are listed below.
- Exempt: 1-3 weeks
- Expedited: 3-6 weeks
- Full Board: 4-8 weeks or longer
Please note, the IRB might need additional clarification before they are able to determine what review category your project falls under. While exempt and expedited protocols are reviewed on a continuous basis, full board protocols are only reviewed once a month during the IRB full board meeting. The deadline to submit a full board protocol is always 2 weeks before the second Wednesday of the month in which you would like it to be considered.
