ADEI Leadership Certificate
Leading for Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Certificate
Purpose: The Leading for Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Certificate actively engages students in deepening their knowledge and understanding of diverse perspectives, histories, and voices. Participants will learn how patterns of perception, logic, thought, speech, behavior, and organizational structures influence racial equity in America and globally. Successful completion of the Certificate requires 40 hours of engagement and professional development. The self-paced training and assessments can be completed before graduation, giving you control over your learning journey.
Criteria
- Option A: 10 Hours of Self-Paced Assignments + 30 Hours of Events & Activities (40 total hours)
- Option B: 10-Hour Health Equity Track + 30 Hours of Events & Activities (40 total hours)
- Option C: 10-Hour Sustained Dialogue Track + 30 Hours of Events & Activities (40 total hours)
10 Hours (Choose One Track)
Self-Paced Assignments
To complete the ADEI Certificate, you may choose 10 hours from the following assignments:
- Leadership Development Self-Paced Assessments – Read content in its entirety, schedule training/complete assessment, and write a 2-3 paragraph reflection.
- Review Case Studies – Choose a case study from the link provided and submit a minimum 3-5 paragraph reflection.
- Students can earn up to five (5) hours by reading an ADEI-related book or listening to an ADEI-related podcast. Check below for the recommended book/podcast list.
OR
Health Equity Track (10 Hours) *New*
Students may complete the 10-hour Health Equity Track as an alternative to self-paced assignments. This track focuses on the intersections of health, identity, and access, with an emphasis on reducing disparities and fostering inclusive health outcomes.
OR
Sustained Dialogue Track (10 Hours) *New*
Students may complete the 10-hour Sustained Dialogue Track as an alternative to self-paced assignments. This track emphasizes building communication and relationship skills, fostering dialogue across differences, and addressing social change through structured conversation practices.
30 Hours Events & Activities
For the remaining certificate hours, students must complete 30 hours of approved events and activities. Options include:
- In-Person Workshops – Cultivating Inclusive Leadership, Building Belonging Through Allyship, Unpacking Implicit Bias & Microaggressions, Communication as Leadership
- History & Heritage Month Celebrations – Participation in cultural heritage and awareness events.
- Inclusive Leadership Opportunities – Engagement in leadership workshops or initiatives.
- Diversity Courses or Programs offered on your SIU Campus.
- Face-to-Face Sessions conducted by ADEI Leaders.
- Live Virtual Sessions conducted by ADEI Leaders.
