Many headings have subheadings that describe a book's contents in more detail. Some examples of these are:
Art--Psychology |
Art--Study and Teaching |
It is a good idea to check all subdivisions under a subject heading to be certain you do not overlook material that might be useful. To find other headings, you can search in the UFind catalog using the browse subject command options.
To locate books beyond those in t

(the state-wide catalog) or

(First Search link). WorldCat provides citations to books and other materials in nearly 72,000 libraries in 171 countries.
Books having L and N call numbers are located on the third floor of the Library on the north (rear) side. Books with R call numbers are also on the third floor. Oversized books (folios) are located on the second floor behind and west of the videotape collection.

The

search option from the Library homepage should be checked to ensure that Lovejoy Library has the particular journal issue needed. If the Library doesn't have the journal you need, articles from the journal can be requested through

.
Most art education and art therapy periodicals from 1990 through current issues are shelved on south end of the second floor. Most pre-1990 issues are kept in storage and can be requested from the Circulation Desk for delivery usually within 24 hours. All are shelved alphabetically by title.
OTHER IMPORTANT REFERENCE SOURCES
There are a number of useful resources in the Reference Collection. Check materials in the L, N, and RC call number ranges. The Library offers the
Dictionary of Art, 34 vols., New York:
Grove's Dictionaries, 1996 (Ref. N 31 .D5 1996).
Counseling and Therapy on Video and The
NLM Gateway
website for useful resources for art therapists.
E-books are now available for some art therapy and art-related titles. EBL, ebrary, Credo Reference, Books @Ovid, and SpringerLink are worth investigating for relevant e-books. Many of these titles are also cataloged in UFind and linked from there.
See the Fine Arts Librarian, Therese Dickman (618-650-2695), if you have any questions.
