The new music area of Research Commons is located on the northeast side of the third floor of Lovejoy Library, shelved between the books having L (education) and N (art) call numbers. Available are music books, scores, and recordings, including approximately 8,000 compact discs. Former music reference books are also shelved by call number in that area. Nearby computers enable patrons to listen to CDs in the area. A Casio electronic keyboard and a Finale workstation are also available. Reference and research assistance is provided to the National Ragtime and Jazz Archive and the Music Special Collections by Fine Arts Librarian Therese Dickman (LB 3017) and Doug Meyer (LB 1044). The new integrated area of Research Commons provides an attractive, quiet area for music study and enjoyment at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. |
