Watershed Nature Center
The Watershed Nature Center is a 40-acre City of Edwardsville park with wetlands, forest and prairie habitats. Located near downtown Edwardsville, it is open year-round during daylight hours for passive recreation.
Bohm Woods
Bohm Woods is a 90-acre nature preserve managed by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission and includes high-quality forest habitats and grassland areas. It is located across from the SIUE Environmental Resources Training Center and allows passive recreation and limited hunting with a permit.
Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary
The Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary is located in West Alton, Ill., and totals 3,700 acres, with a focus on wetland habitats. It is managed as a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Rivers Project Office and the National Audubon Society, and is open during the day year-round.
John M. Olin Nature Preserve
Located in Godfrey, Ill., along the bluffs of the Mississippi River, the Olin Nature Preserve is managed by The Nature Institute. It is approximately 300 acres of forest and grassland habitats, and is open to the public year-round during daylight hours.
Arlington Wetlands
Arlington Wetlands is a restored American Bottoms wetland in Collinsville, Ill. It is managed by Madison County, the Collinsville Area Recreation District and HeartLands Conservancy, and includes 84 acres of a remnant oxbow lake.
