Lindsay Ross-Stewart Receives OVC Outstanding Faculty for Student Success Award
Lindsay Ross-Stewart, PhD, associate professor in Applied Health at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), was named the 2023-2024 recipient of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Outstanding Faculty for Student Success Award. The award is granted to a faculty member at each OVC member institution, recognizing their impact on students, contributions to the department, University and curriculum development, professional development and community involvement.
Ross-Stewart teaches in the Exercise and Sport Psychology Graduate Program. She is a certified mental performance consultant and registered mentor in the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and a mental performance consultant for the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. Her research has been published in numerous journals and she feels honored to add the student-chosen award on her list of accomplishments.
“I am very honored to have received the OVC Outstanding Faculty for Student Success Award,” said Ross-Stewart. “I am particularly honored because this award was chosen by students.”
Ben Webb, PhD, associate professor and graduate program director in the Department of Applied Health, also shared his congratulations for Ross-Stewart.
“I know the University and the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior will join me in saying how proud we are of Dr. Ross-Stewart’s accomplishment,” said Webb.
Established in 2023, the award was created by the Provosts from each OVC member institution. Each OVC member institution nominate a faculty member with the rank of associate or full-time professor who has been employed at the institution for at least five years. For each of her 12 years here, Ross-Stewart feels privileged to support SIUE students.
“We have incredible students at SIUE and the privilege of getting to interact and support them is not something that I ever take for granted.” Ross-Stewart said.
The award was previously held by SIUE’s Kelly N. Grable, Pharm.D. Together, Grable and Ross-Stewart join 21 named recipients in the short but remarkable history of the Outstanding Faculty for Student Success Award.
