Assessment of Student Learning
SIUE students demonstrate learning at all stages of their educational journey. Two key benchmarks are used by the University as evidence of student learning: senior assignment and Undergraduate Scholar Showcase
SIUE seniors in all programs are required to complete a “senior assignment” that demonstrates breadth commensurate with our general education expectations and proficiency in the academic major. It is designed to represent the culmination of the entire undergraduate experience at SIUE, and it integrates the core components of each student's baccalaureate education. SIUE’s senior assignment fosters creativity and self-reliance by encouraging each student to gain control over his or her own educational experience.
The Undergraduate Scholar Showcase features a select number of senior capstone projects that are exhibited for the University community and the public to view and explore as evidence of student learning. Each project is uniquely owned by its corresponding department and program and celebrates SIUE's baccalaureate graduates' achievements.
