Soccer and Halloween
These Brains Know Balls! This Thursday at Korte Stadium, it's SIUE vs. Lindenwood! JMHP and HSA are being recognized in a celebration of Honors and our two women's soccer players who are athletes as well: Sydney and Akeelah. Come down and cheer at 7pm but get there early at 6:45 to catch the short ceremony first. Bonus! It's also mental health night, and we'll have giveaways, souvenirs, and therapy dogs. (Sadly, the therapy dogs are not the souvenirs. We'll have to leave them behind. :( )
Pumpkin decorating contest starting this Friday! Big pumpkins, little pumpkins, paper mache, or painted on canvas! Carve, paint, bejewel, draw! From the 10th through the 26th, submit your pumpkin on Suitable. Bonus points for bringing it in to the office for display. Voting will take place on the honors Instagram page from the 27th through the 30th. Winners announced on the 31st. In keeping with the season, there will be mystery prizes both for participation and for top pumpkins.

- Pre-Health workshop,Tomorrow, Oct 9th, 5pm-6pm "Getting Started" in Lovejoy Library 1st floor classroom - Not sure where to start in your Pre-health application process or how to become a competitive applicant? Designed for first-year and second-year students that need the basics on how to apply to health-oriented professional schools and how to make a plan.

Honors Student Association (HSA)
- Community Meeting BBQ! HSA had a wonderful first community meeting on September 8th. For our next one, we will be outside! Join us and other honors faculty for a BBQ/Bonfire, Friday, October 17th, 5:30-7:30 pm on Dunham Lawn. Food and drinks will be provided, as well as games and activities! If you would like to just chill, feel free to bring some quilts and lay on the lawn. Come fall into fall, even if just for a little bit!

- If you are unable to join us on the 17th, no worries! We'll also be hanging out on Saturday, October 18th...but at the St. Louis Science Center (followed by snacks in Forest Park)!
Service Announcements
- Service Hours should now be reported through Suitable for all honors students. Over this week, we'll migrate hours to the new system, clear out the backlog of unreviewed service, and other magics. For questions regarding Suitable, stop by our fancy new reception desk on the 3rd floor of the Library in the Martinson Honors suite. Our student workers will be happy to help you find activities and forms and explain why those two are different and important.
