Welcome to the Shimadzu Innovation Lab
The Shimadzu Innovation Lab (SIL) was founded in 2018 to support the growing need for Chemical Analysis on SIUE’s campus. As our capabilities have grown to housing nearly $3 million in instrumentation, we expanded our reach beyond our campus to include services to external academic institutions and industry. Our clients are empowered to tackle analytical chemistry opportunities that range from simple sample analysis to method development, knowing that they are supporting student-centered education and experience within the lab.
Our mission is to provide affordable, routine, and novel analysis while training the next generation of chemists and supporting the scholarly activity of our campus.
The SIL was established through the Provost’s Innovation Fund and has been supported by contributions from the Department of Chemistry, the SIUE Graduate School, the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center, and the State of Illinois Department of Labor.
