About the Shimadzu Innovation Lab
The SIUE Shimadzu Innovation Lab (SIL) provides a wide variety of chemical analysis using analytical techniques for inorganic, organic, and biological samples. Techniques that we have access to include both LC and GC chromatography, various types of mass spectrometers, high resolution UV/Vis/NIR and XRF. The facility is in University Park on the SIUE campus in the Biotechnology Lab Incubator (BLI) in room 1185.
Learn More About Mass Spectrometry [pdf]
The SIL is capable of performing analysis using many different ionization techniques including low resolution electron impact (EI), low resolution chemical ionization (CI), low resolution electrospray (ESI), low resolution matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI), MS/MS, GC/MS (EI or CI), and LC/MS (ESI). We pride ourselves on developing methods using these technologies for customers to solve novel problems.
The mass spectrometers used to perform these analyses are listed below:
- Shimadzu HPLC 2050 3D iSeries with PDA
- Shimadzu LC-MS 2020
- Shimadzu LC-MS 8060NX
- Shimadzu GC-MS QP2010 SE
- Shimadzu GCMS-TQ8050 NX with liquid, SPME, headspace, and thermal desorption
- Shimadzu MALDI-MS 8020
- Shimadzu EDX-8100
- Shimadzu UV-3600i Plus UV/Vis/NIR Spectrophotometer
