Godfrey, IL
Incorporated in 1991, Godfrey is one of the newest municipalities in Illinois. Located approximately 20 miles from the SIUE campus, the Village of Godfrey is home to approximately 18,000 residents. With rapid growth expected to continue into the near future, Village leaders are concerned about their impact on the environment. Consequently, the Godfrey’s Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee was established in 2014 and identified improved recycling as a goal. Students enrolled in Professor Klein’s PBHE 490/491 course worked with Village and Committee leaders to increase recycling education among Godfrey residents.
