Lisa Leatherman
Lisa Leatherman (cello) A Suzuki cello student herself in central Illinois at the age of 4, Lisa Leatherman has studied cello with Janis Wilkinson, Daniel Davies, Stefan Kartman, George Work, and Julie McGinnis. She graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She performed as a section cellist with the Des Moines Symphony, then later with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra. Lisa has performed on stage with Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Emanuel Ax. Lisa's first cello teacher was Lynne Oliverius, who is now the chairman of the board of the SAA.
Lisa maintains a private studio at her home in Shiloh, IL, and participates locally with choruses, community orchestras, and church groups. She regularly performs with her husband, a jazz and classical saxophonist, and their children who play violin, viola, cello, piano, and saxophone.
