What We Do
For the convenience of students, SIUE offers a variety of tests through Testing Services. These tests include, but are not limited to, placement exams, proficiency tests, CLEP and standardized nursing exams.
Note: All students will be required to show a valid photo ID prior to taking any test. Students who do not have a valid photo ID will not be allowed to test.
Placement Tests
Students may need to take the writing skills placement test and/or the reading placement test to be placed in ENG 101. Students may also need to take the math placement test to be placed in the initial math course required by their program of study.
Chemistry Readiness Exam
Students who plan to major in biology, chemistry, computer science, exercise science, engineering, medical technology, physics, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy or pre-veterinary medicine may need to take the Chemistry Readiness Exam to be placed in CHEM 121a.
Proficiency Examinations
Students may want to take proficiency exams to earn credit-by-examination for any Foundations course and many Breadth Area courses in the General Education program.
College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Students may want to take CLEP exams to earn credit-by-examination for select courses in introductory subjects including business, composition and literature, history and social sciences, and science and mathematics.
