Vision
TRIO Upward Bound is designed to assist students through high school while preparing them for entry and completion of post-secondary education. Enrichment activities expand on students learning in ways that differ from the traditional methods used during a regular school day. Our program is designed to be challenging, exciting and rewarding as we attempt to offset academic deficiencies and certain environmental deficiencies through the provision of tutorials, classroom instruction, and educational and cultural activities. We hope to provide meaningful, interactive and project-focused activities that will enhance a student’s development by bringing new concepts to light or by using old concepts in the new ways as they acquire new knowledge, a different perspective or a deeper appreciation for higher learning.
Goals
TRIO Upward Bound fulfills a critical component of the talent pipeline by providing needed support services to middle and high school students to help them succeed academically, graduate on time, prepare for college-level courses, apply to and enroll in post-secondary education, and prepare for living wage jobs in high-demand fields. TRIO Upward Bound is a privilege and should be treated as such.
