Is Welcome Weekend required?
All students new to SIUE are encouraged to participate in The SIUE Welcome Weekend program on August 16-18. First Year, Transfer and Graduate students have specific sessions just for you throughout the weekend, but you are welcome to participate in any SIUE Welcome Weekend Activities.
What if I have work or important family obligations during Welcome Weekend?
If you have other obligations during the SIUE Welcome Weekend, it is okay for you to miss some of the events and activities. Throughout the weekend, there will be multiple opportunities for you to join in the fun!
I am a new transfer or graduate student. Is Welcome Weekend for me?
Yes! The SIUE Welcome Weekend is for all new students on campus. If you are an incoming transfer or graduate student, we will have specific sessions for you during the SIUE Welcome Weekend. Look for your specific schedule.
What is a Welcome Leader?
A Welcome Leader is a returning student who is dedicated to helping you have a smooth transition to life at SIUE. Welcome Leaders help facilitate our programs and will attend events with incoming students. They will show you around campus, answer your questions, help you connect with other new and returning students, and give you an idea of what life looks like as a student.
All first-year students are assigned a Welcome Leaders. Keep an eye on your email for more information about how to find out about your Welcome Leader!
How do I find out who my Welcome Leader is?
You will receive more information about your Welcome Leader in August. Continue to check your SIUE email, as this will be the main form of communication for everything related to the SIUE Welcome Weekend.

How will I get more information about the specific events happening during Welcome Weekend?
Detailed schedules will be available in the SIUE Mobile App under SIUE Welcome Weekend and on the SIUE Welcome Weekend website closer to the program. You will also receive updates in your SIUE email. Visit the schedule page for more information.
Where do I purchase a parking pass?
All students with a vehicle on campus will need to purchase a parking pass through Parking Services.
When can I move in?
Residential students are able to move into their residence halls beginning on the Wednesday/Thursday before the first day of classes. Students will receive their official move-in time through communication from University Housing. University Housing provides a detailed checklist of what to bring and what not to bring to the residence halls. Visit University Housing for more information about living on campus.
