New Turf Fields at the Outdoor Recreation Complex Campus Recreation replaced the natural grass surface in the Outdoor Recreational Complex with synthetic turf on the soccer/football and softball fields. The synthetic turf's durability and rain tolerance allows for extended playing and practice seasons for club sports teams and intramural sports activities. Byrne and Jones Construction, of St. Louis, completed the $1.1 million dollar project that was funded through University student recreation operations and reserve funds. |

Fowler Student Design Center The School of Engineering recently completed Phase I of the the new Student Design Center. The addition provides much-needed space for students involved in senior design projects, collegiate competition teams, clubs and organizations. The two-story, 14,000-square-foot addition includes design team workspaces, a project prototyping workspace, design labs, and an engineer's alley to showcase projects. Phase 2 is fully funded in the amount of $1.25 million by the Fowler family and will be complete by Spring 2019. |

Student Fitness Center Weight Room Expansion Campus Recreation recently expanded the weight room at the Student Fitness Center. Supported by SIUE Student Government and 100 percent funded by student fees, this expansion added more than double the space to the existing weight room. The weight room added an array of new equipment including racks, Olympic plates, bumper plates, more rack stations, women’s weighted bar(s), multiuse benches, platforms, dumbbells, medicine balls, training rope(s) and more. |

Science Buildings Science Building West is home to the Departments of Chemistry, Biological Sciences and Environmental Sciences. This new structure offers an exciting mix of sustainable features, reducing the University’s carbon footprint, while providing much-needed space and state-of-the-art resources for our students. This will make our graduates even more competitive in the global workforce. The original Science Building East is completely renovated and is home to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, the Department of Physics, and the SIUE STEM Center. |

Art & Design Building Renovation and Expansion The vibrant $16 million project provides a welcoming atmosphere for faculty, staff, students and the greater community. Anyone who visits campus will be awestruck by the distinctive beauty and openness of the structures, which centralize the University’s art programs, including ceramics/glass, drawing, foundations, graphic design, metalsmithing, painting, photography/digital arts, printmaking, sculpture and textiles, art education, art history, and art therapy. |

The Charles and Mary Lukas Athletics Annex The $4.5 million structure brings distinction to the University and excitement to campus life through supporting the highest level of intercollegiate competition. Student-athletes are a primary beneficiary of this facility. These students are engaged members of the campus and the Metro-East community. They put academics first and give back through their community service. |
