Psychology - Online Degree Program
Overview
The psychology program at SIUE provides students with a broad-based introduction to the science of psychology. Psychology is an exciting field that allows students to learn more about mental processes and behavior, psychological problems, and human potential.
Pursuing the online degree option means students can study from the location of their choice while learning about:
- Human development
- Cognition and memory
- Psychopathology
- Personality
- Social interactions
- Psychology in applied settings
Students will gain valuable insight from our accomplished and dedicated faculty who specialize in many areas of psychology.
Program Format
Courses are taught 100% online throughout all SIUE academic terms.
Fall and Spring
- Accelerated eight-week sessions (with the exception of the 16-week PSYC 494 Capstone Seminar in Psychology)
Summer
- Accelerated three-week sessions
- Accelerated five-week sessions
Winter
- Accelerated three-week sessions
Courses are designed to engage students and allow for timely progression through the program. Once admitted, students will develop an individualized course plan with their academic advisor.
The online degree option is designed to be completed within 24 months assuming students have an associate degree and choose to study full time. This program allows a bachelor's degree for students who currently work full time or prefer an online experience. All courses are taught by the same faculty who teach in our on-ground program.
What can I do with a degree in psychology?
Graduates of the psychology program will be well prepared for a variety of career opportunities in both public and private settings. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates positive career growth for graduates with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Students will also be prepared to pursue graduate education.
Graduates have the opportunity to pursue careers in a variety of fields where knowledge of human behavior and mental processes are important, including:

Student Support
Students will have support in various ways to ensure success. Support includes assistance with technical and learning platform issues, writing and APA formats, and textbook/publisher help. Online students will also have access to SIUE support systems, as well as program specific support.
Tuition and Fees
$430.75/credit hour = tuition, fees and textbook rental!
New undergraduate students receive a guaranteed tuition rate for four continuous academic years.

*Tuition and fees are based on fall 2024 enrollment. Visit the tuition and fees estimator to calculate costs for additional credit hours. Fully online students are not required to pay for housing, meal plan, student health insurance or parking. Textbook rental is included with general student fees, but additional shipping charges may apply for off-campus delivery and return.
Financial Aid
Students may qualify for grants and loans. Apply for financial aid by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. You must identify SIUE as one of your schools of choice using Federal School Code 001759. Some awards are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
