Grants, Scholarships, & Awards
Grants are need-based aid that does not need to be repaid. Scholarships are merit- or specific category-based aid that does not need to be repaid.
- Institutional: offered from your college or university
- Merit-based: academic history, athletics, etc.
- Specific category-based: intended major, employment, project- based, etc.
- Grants are sources of gift aid that do not need to be repaid.
- Awards will be other sources of aid with specific uses i.e., tuition waivers, etc.
Loans
Low-interest loans for a student or parent must be repaid. Loans can be obtained from the federal government through the FAFSA or through a private lender of the borrower’s choice.
Other Forms of Support
Financial aid is also available in the form of student emplopyment, graduate assistantships, WIOA, and the DFI program, as well as other opportunities.
Certificates
Gainful employment disclosures for certificate programs that qualify for financial aid:
