Test Scheduling
Students who schedule tests through the Student Accommodate Portal will receive an email confirmation of their scheduled test. Approved test times, dates, class information and accommodations are entered into our system and sent as a notification and reminder to both the student and the professor.
Step-By-Step Instructions to Schedule A Test
- Visit the Student Accommodate Portal
- Select “Student” and log in with SIUE eID and Password
- Click on ‘Testing Room’
- Click “New Booking Request”. This will bring you to the ‘Alternative Testing Rooms’ page.
- Select your course from the drop-down menu and fill out the date and time range filter for the day that you would like to take the exam.
- Indicate whether the test is a final exam by selecting ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
- Do not select a Building from the dropdown menu. Leave this field blank.
- Under Rooms, select the requirements from the options available should you have a test that requires a computer, CCTV or just a regular testing space
- Disregard the option to select the day of the week for the exam. Don’t select a day/leave that option blank.
- Scroll down the page and select “Check Availability.”
- The list of available stations during the selected range will appear to the right. Scroll through and look for the time that you need to begin your exam
- “Rooms” that are full at that time will not appear in this list
- Once you select a time, a pop-up box will appear with your submitted information filled in for the Testing Room, Course, Testing Date, Testing Time, Accommodated Test Length, and End Time. If your exam has a specific title, or number you may enter it in the corresponding field.
- Under ‘Accommodations Needed’ you may uncheck any accommodations you do not plan to use for this booking. Otherwise, all currently approved accommodations will be selected.
- Click Submit.
Testing Center Policies & Procedures
72-Hour Policy
Our policy dictates the time span within which tests must be scheduled.
“If I receive testing accommodations arranged through ACCESS, I will schedule examinations with this office no later than three business days (72 business hours) before the examination date. If I have extenuating circumstances, I will notify ACCESS as soon as possible.”
This policy will be strictly enforced. Tests must be scheduled 72 hours ahead of the test time. Not after business hours via phone and not on the day of the exam or the day before. If you are coming to schedule an exam in person and it is beyond the 72 hour period, we advise you to schedule the rest of your tests in advance; at this time if you have not scheduled your test in advance and within our 72 business hour window, the only option is to take the test in class with the professor.
Our regular business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.
All tests scheduled online through the Student Accommodate Portal will be followed by an e-mail confirmation/receipt as proof of you scheduling the exam. These confirmations will only be sent to your SIUE email address. The confirmation will also be sent to your instructor as an FYI and request for the exam. When you schedule your exam, please let the staff member scheduling the test know the necessary information about your test and accommodation needs.
If you have any further questions, comments or concerns associated with this policy, please schedule an appointment to speak with an ACCESS staff member.
Testing & Online Proctoring
If you receive notice that a student is eligible for extended time (time-and-a-half or double-time) this means their time should be adjusted as an accommodation on any quizzes, exams and finals. For brick-and-mortar courses, students need to schedule their exams to be taken in the ACCESS Testing Center (Student Success Center, Room 1270) by logging into Accommodate. You may review any scheduled exams in Accommodate. For instruction on how to apply extended time on Blackboard exams, please visit the Faculty Blackboard site, or contact ITS for further assistance.
Evening Exams
Regular business hours are Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm. We do however remain open to proctor evening exams scheduled in accordance with our 72 hour policy. If you have an evening class, appropriately scheduled tests, quizzes and exams can be taken at the same time as your evening class. In the event that extended time accommodations for your student would extend their completion time beyond 10:00 pm, we may reach out to request an earlier start time so the exam can be completed before our office closes for the day.
Make-Up Exams
Exams should always be scheduled at the same day and time as your regularly scheduled class. In extenuating circumstances, students may be permitted to schedule an exam at an alternative time to allow for an extended time accommodation that may interfere with a subsequent class, or to accommodate a make-up exam. Any exam, including make-up exams, scheduled outside of the standard class time, must have instructor permission and must be completed by 4:30 pm including extended time accommodations.
