Advising and Registration
All students must meet with an academic advisor before enrolling in their first semester. Advisors help develop a plan of study, select appropriate courses and help students transition to the University.
If you are an undergraduate student, please contact the Office of Academic Advising.
If you are a graduate student, please contact your academic department for instructions.
Please remember the following when registering for classes with your academic advisor:
- J-1 students must maintain full-time enrollment in order to comply with visa regulations
- Undergraduate students are required to register for a minimum of 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester
- Graduate students must be registered for a minimum of nine credit hours each fall and spring semester
- Summer enrollment is optional, unless it is the first semester of enrollment at SIUE
Please note: J-1 students can only take less than the required course load with prior approval by the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.
