Board of Directors Committees
There are seven standing committees managed by the Board of Directors:
Alumni Engagement
The Alumni Engagement Committee works to deepen alumni involvement through events and initiatives that drive engagement. The committee determines how well the needs and interests of alumni and other key constituents are being met. Engagement is so important to us that we have two sub-committees that focus on providing opportunities for alumni to connect.Awards and Scholarships
The Awards and Scholarships Committee oversees the annual scholarships and awards presented by the Alumni Association including the Alumni Association Scholarship, the License Plate Scholarship and the Alumni Hall of Fame. This committee reviews and scores applications and selects the winners of our student scholarships. The committee also makes recommendations during the planning phase of the annual Alumni Hall of Fame program and serves on selection committees for SIUE's College and Schools.
Student Connections
The Student Connections Committee is dedicated to serving current SIUE students in their professional development.
This committee collaborates with the SIUE Career Development Center who has access to the student and mentor database. The SIUE Career Development Center ensures that all interested students are matched with a mentor who fits into their professional goals, specifically for one-on-one mentor matching. Sign up here.
The Student Connections Committee also cooperates with SIUE Departments and campus partners to host programs and events. The committee will participate in the planning, marketing and execution of events to specifically serve students' interests. These events are intended to provide connection opportunities for students while also engaging alumni.
Advocacy and Community Outreach
The Advocacy and Community Outreach Committee provides the mechanism and support necessary to keep a channel of communication open between the University and its alumni. This committee also helps promote SIUE to external stakeholders, alumni, the Edwardsville community and potential students. They are responsible for all aspects of the planning and execution of community events.
Finance/Audit
The Finance Committee oversees the budget of the Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Affairs. The committee reviews revenue and expenditures for the Alumni Association and oversees the investments of the Alumni Association budget. The committee makes recommendations concerning financial matters during quarterly Board meetings, which will be voted on by the full Board of Directors.
Bylaws
The Bylaws Committee oversees the bylaws of the Alumni Association. The committee is required to meet at least one time per year to review the current bylaws and make recommendations for any changes and additions. The recommendations and changes would be submitted to the executive committee for review. The recommendations would then be voted on by the full Board of Directors.
Executive
The Executive Committee is comprised of the president, president-elect, vice president, vice president of finance and the immediate past president, with the secretary serving as a non-voting ex-officio member.
