Teaching and Research Assistantships
Teaching and research assistants are valued members of the Department of Biological Sciences team. The duties of a teaching or research assistant vary widely across the disciplines. In most cases, teaching assistants in Biological Sciences teach lab classes or help the professor/instructor with labs.
For applicants admitted or enrolled in the Biological Sciences Graduate Program
To ensure that you are included on the list of applicants for available assistantships, send an email to:
In the email subject line, include:
- Your name, Program Affiliation (i.e., Biological Sciences)
- Semester applying for (e.g.: Spring 2025)
In the email body, include:
- Name of faculty mentor.
- A brief description of your background in biology-related subjects and any relevant teaching assistant experience and/or course preferences as applicable.
For applicants not admitted or enrolled in the Biological Sciences Graduate Program (i.e. applicants affiliated with other Programs)
In addition to following the instructions above, include a copy of your transcripts and copy and paste a short CV into the body of the email.
Following receipt of your email application, your information will be added to the list of considered applicants. If a position becomes available, you will be contacted via email for follow-up.
