Teaching and Research Assistantships
Teaching and research assistants are valued members of the Department of Biological Sciences team. The duties of a teaching or research assistant vary widely across the disciplines. In most cases, teaching assistants in Biological Sciences teach lab classes or help the professor/instructor with labs.
To be considered for an assistantship position, complete the Teaching/Research Assistantship Application. Contrary to instructions on some Graduate School web pages, you DO NOT need three additional references for an assistantship application in Biological Sciences. The two references that you obtained for your application to the Biological Sciences graduate program will suffice. If you are intending to apply for an assistantship, you should let your references know so that they can comment on your aptitude for an assistantship position.
