“Brownfield Management in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area”

In the fall of 2008 the Institute for Urban Research (IUR) was contracted to do research on the management of brownfields in the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area (SLSLMSA). Through the course of this investigation, the policy and administration of brownfields was analyzed. Additionally, it provides a full overview of the findings and financing options available for brownfield projects. In turn, an analysis was conducted on the distribution of brownfield remediation in the SLSLMSA. What this report also highlight s is the potential areas for further investigation and analysis such as the Metro East, who needs greater brownfield management. Lastly, this report will provide guidelines and contact information for individuals interested in redeveloping a brownfield site. The contributing authors to this investigation include Dr. Guehlstorf, Dr. Andrew Theising, Christen Gates, and Stephanie Thomas, the IUR Brownfield Research Team.
