Labor and Delivery Room Nurse
As a labor and delivery nurse, I use my sociology degree every day. It helps me better understand the circumstances of individual patients – since the society and the individual are interconnected. I would never have initially been interested in women's health work if it hadn't been for my Women, Gender, & Society and Medical Sociology courses. I was motivated to apply my education. I work directly with women and their families by listening to them, supporting them, and advocating for their birth preferences. All of which I am better at because of my sociology education.
