Advisement
Once students are admitted to the School of Business or become pre-business students, they will be advised by a professional advisor in the Business Student Services Office or a faculty member from their department. Please see the "Meet with an Advisor" link to see advisement locations by major. Advisement is required prior to registration.
During restricted advisement period (weeks 2-11 of fall and spring semesters) appointments and drop-in in Business Student Services are for declared business majors, business minors and coded pre-business students only.
During the open advising period, anyone who needs information about admission to the School of Business or its academic programs may meet with an advisor in Business Student Services.
Registration
Students will be able to register themselves online after they have met with an academic advisor, planned their upcoming courses, received a Advisement Form and the Advisor Check-in Hold is removed. Students should meet with an academic advisor before online registration begins.
Online registration will be implemented according to the University established schedule which is available on the Registrar's website. A tutorial regarding registration is available at the Registrar's website.
Advising and Registration Advice
What you should do
- Meet with an advisor sometime before the online registration date for your classification for advisement. You may either schedule an appointment or come during drop-in hours.
- Plan the times you want for your courses after you have met with an advisor.
- Begin exploring your options for electives (if you need them) by reviewing the course schedule and the Undergraduate Catalog. Both are available on the Registrar's website or through CougarNet.
- Please be patient.
- If you have questions, ask! If we don't know, we will find out for you or refer you to the person who can assist you.
What you should not do
- Do not panic. As long as you meet with an advisor before the online registration date for your classification for advising and have a plan in place, you should be able to register yourself for classes.
- Do not wait until the last minute to be advised. There is plenty of time for all business majors and pre-business students to be advised, but please do not wait until the last minute to do so.
