Student Organization Award Program
The School of Business is proud to partner with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to acknowledge and honor the work and dedication of student participants in business student organizations. Through this awards program, students are provided the means to enhance leadership skills and to interact with executives of a major corporation.
All Business Majors
Beta Gamma Sigma, an international scholastic business honor society, is the second oldest such society in the United States. The organization recognizes the outstanding scholastic achievement of Business majors. Only Schools and Colleges of Business that are accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - may house Beta Gamma Sigma chapters. At SIUE, invitations to join are issued to juniors in good standing with grade point averages (GPA) of at least 3.80 and seniors with GPAs of at least 3.65. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is a lifetime honor.
Emerging Leaders Improving Through Experience (ELITE) is a group of School of Business student leaders who serve as a liaison between students, faculty, alumni, and others affiliated with the School of Business. The organization engages in many projects in service to the School of Business.
International Business Association is open to any student and seeks to enhance student awareness of international business by promoting social and professional relationships between U.S. students, international students, and companies.
Real Estate Club provides all students with opportunities to network and develop professionally within the real estate industry. The purpose is to aid all levels of experience students in the real estate industry, to express and share their passion for real estate with other like-minded students.
The SIUE Entrepreneurs' Club provides students with helpful resources for entrepreneurial research, local entrepreneurial successes, the start-up process, opportunities available to young entrepreneurs, networks of young entrepreneurs, opportunities to participate in entrepreneurship competitions, sources for small business assistance, business skills, small business management, and more! The primary goal of the club is to support students as they move along the path toward business creation.
Accounting Majors
Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is the national honorary accounting society. SIUE hosts a student chapter of BAP for the top accounting majors. It holds monthly meetings and hosts technical and informational professional presentations by various companies. Involvement fosters relationships with fellow accounting majors as well as the networking opportunities with faculty and future employers.
Computer Management and Information Systems Majors
AIS - This student chapter of the Association for Information Systems promotes the study, application, and advancement of information systems through career enhancement, professional networking, and chapter development. AIS connects students with each other as well as with professional and academic members across the globe to foster life-long learning and fun in the Information Systems profession. Open to all majors and grade levels.
Economics and Finance Majors
The Economics and Finance Club is open to all students interested in economics and/or finance. One of the major activities of the club will be overseeing the School of Business Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF). Students will have the opportunity to design a portfolio for the SMIF and then buy and sell stocks over the course of the year to achieve investment goals.
Omicron Delta Epsilon is the national honor society for economics majors. It is one of the world's largest academic honor societies. The objectives are recognition of scholastic attainment and the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics. Involvement fosters closer academic, professional, and social relationships with the faculty and fellow ODE members.
Management and Human Resource Management Majors
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the leading voice of the human resource profession. SHRM provides education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representation, online services and publications to more than 165,000 professional and student members throughout the world. The Society, is a founding member of the North American Human Resource Management Association (NAHRMA) as well as founding member of the World Federation of Personnel Management Associations (WFPMA).
Marketing Majors
American Marketing Association (AMA). SIUE hosts a student chapter of this national association. The mission of the AMA is to expose students to the environment of marketing and sales professions. Through the AMA, students have an opportunity to make contact with professional working in their field. The chapter activities include hosting guest speakers from the field of marketing, attending the St. Louis Student AMA Conference, visits to local companies and attending the National Student AMA conference.
Marketing Research Majors
The Master of Marketing Research Student Association (MMRSA) provides graduate students in the Master of Marketing Research Program the opportunity to participate in the organizing, planning, and directing of an organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the art and science of marketing research. The MMRSA strives to improve MMR students marketability in today's competitive job market via guest speakers and specialized workshops on emerging topics and trends in the marketing research industry. Additionally, the MMRSA provides an informal venue for MMR students to interact socially.
