Employee of the Month
January 2026 Employee of the Month - Abigail Lee
Abigail Lee has been a dedicated member of the SIUE Campus Recreation team since August 2023 and currently serves as a facility supervisor and the Equipment Issue assistant manager. She has served on hiring committees for several student-employee positions and is currently pursuing a degree in human resource management with a minor in psychology and plans to graduate in May 2026.
For the spring semester, Abigail has already secured a wonderful internship opportunity in her field of study. With her future goal of working as a recruiter, she continuously seeks to expand her leadership skills and deepen her understanding of workplace dynamics through both her role in Campus Recreation and her campus involvement.
Also, highly active within the SIUE community, Abigail contributes to organizations such as CREC Connect, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the American Marketing Association. Outside of her professional and academic life, Abigail enjoys reading, weight-lifting, attending Zumba classes, hiking local trails, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with her friend Larissa.
One of Abigail’s favorite aspects of working for Campus Recreation is the strong sense of community and teamwork she experiences every day. She also values the opportunity to grow professionally by attending conferences that connect her to the broader recreation field.
Along with earning January’s Employee of the Month, Abigail was proudly recognized as the 2024–2025 Campus Recreation Employee of the Year—a reflection of her exceptional commitment, positivity, and consistency. Her leadership continues to elevate the Campus Rec experience for both staff and patrons, making her an outstanding representative of the department.
December 2025 Employee of the Month - Ellie Cox
Congratulations to this month’s Employee of the Month, Campus Recreation Technology Support Agent, Ellie Cox! Ellie has been an outstanding employee for SIUE Campus Recreation since September of 2023. She loves a challenge and is a determined troubleshooter who never gives up on a Campus Recreation technology-related problem. No job is too big or too small for Ellie, and she is always looking for ways that technology can improve the efficiency of Campus Recreation processes. Her supervisor said, “Ellie is as dependable and reliable as an employee can be, and when she leaves us for her internship next semester, she will be sorely missed.”
Ellie expects to graduate in May of 2027 with degrees in mechatronics and robotics! She hopes to go on to a career in designing, building, and programming robots or drones. When Ellie has free time, she enjoys running, learning new things and watching sports.
Ellie says that she likes working for Campus Recreation because, “I love working with my co-workers and the challenging nature of working with technology.” Campus Recreation is lucky to have had Ellie as part of our team, and we wish her the best of luck!
