Southern Illinois University offers several programs which lead to professional licensure in Illinois. All students should be aware that states vary in their educational and professional requirements depending on the profession in which they choose.
While many of the programs offered by SIUE are intended to prepare a student for licensure/certification; meeting the educational requirements established by the appropriate regulatory board, licensure/certification requirements may vary among jurisdictions. Please choose the program link below to access disclosure information for programs that result in professional licensure.
The licensure information is reviewed and updated annually; it is important to note that state agencies can change licensure requirements at any time. For additional questions or concerns, contact SIUE Manager of Federal, State, and Licensure Compliance at licensure@siue.edu
The Art Therapy Counseling (MA) program at SIUE is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Council for Art Therapy Education (ACATE). Our program meets the educational standards for application for the national credentials of Registered Art Therapist - ATR and/or Board Certified Registered Art Therapist - ATR-BC . In Illinois, an applicant for licensure for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC ) or a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC ) must submit their official transcripts and program materials for evaluation for the board to determine if educational requirements have been met. This is not a reflection upon our program but the educational review process of the board is required of all applicants. Due to this and the ultimate discretion off the board, we have not been able to determine if our program meets the educational requirements.
