Ron's warmth and empathy shine through in his role as a staff counselor. With an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from McKendree University and a B.S. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Ron brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his work.
He's passionate about supporting individuals from all walks of life, including first-generation/non-traditional students and those new to counseling. Ron's dedication extends to neurodiverse populations, recognizing their unique strengths and challenges. Drawing on his own journey as a wounded healer, Ron offers genuine empathy and understanding to his clients.
As the Outreach & Prevention Coordinator for SIUE Counseling Services, Ron extends his care to the broader campus community. Through proactive strategies and educational programs, he fosters a culture of acceptance and support for mental health. Ron also serves as the Student Athletic Mental Health Liaison, providing specialized support to student-athletes and leading initiatives like the annual Mental Health Prescreening survey.
In his involvement with the C3RT Coordinated Community Care Response Team group, Ron works to promote a safer campus environment by researching and implementing evidence-based approaches to interpersonal violence. As a member of the Engaging Men subcommittee, he focuses on engaging male-identified students in violence prevention efforts.
