Outreach and Prevention Services
Our priority is to oversee the development and maintenance of psychological well-being on our campus. To accomplish this goal, we use a three-pronged approach: 1) direct provision of clinical services to SIUE students, 2) consultation for faculty/staff, and 3) education/professional development for all members of the campus community. In addition to this core function, we are a training center, supporting the clinical, supervisory and research acumen of mental health providers across disciplines and levels of education.
Below are the general categories of outreach requests we receive:

Materials - Psychoeducational content (information on mental health concerns, well-being, thriving, flourishing and student development).

Presentations - Presentations or workshops on topics broadly defined under the categories of mental health concerns, well-being, thriving, flourishing, and student development.

Interview - Interviews with a member of the Counseling Services senior staff for the Alestle.
If you would like to request an Outreach related event, please click on the following link and complete the Qualtrics survey. A staff member will then follow up with you to gain additional information for planning purposes. We typically request a minimum of 30 days' notice for optimal planning and to accommodate scheduling.

Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training
Counseling Services staff are available to provide training for campus community members to increase competency in suicide prevention and awareness using AFSP's Talk Saves Lives and/or It's Real curriculum. Mental Health First Aid is also available for campus community members, which provides suicide prevention and awareness content, along with more broad subject matter related to mental health.
