Stacey Brown Amilian
Faculty Fellow and Affiliate, 2020 - 2022
Stacey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and GIS at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and one of the 2021 C-PAN Faculty Fellows. She earned her BS in Geography, a minor in Economics and a GIS certificate from Oklahoma State University. She earned her MS in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte focusing on location analysis. After graduation, she moved to Chicago to work for the Walgreen Corporation as a Market Analyst. After working two years in Chicago and traveling around the United States finding the ‘corners of happy and healthy’, she returned to Oklahoma State University to earn her Ph.D. in Geography. She was the seventh recipient and the first female awarded her doctoral degree from the OSU Geography department. Her research interests focus on medical geography, specifically how the built environment influences health and accessibility issues.
Jie Ying
Faculty Fellow and Affiliate, 2020 - 2022
Jie is an Assistant Professor of Finance at SIUE and is a graduate of the University of Iowa. His research interests are centered around institutional investors and insurance economics. As a Faculty Fellow, he studies the potential impacts of common ownership on the risk contagions and spillovers among financial institutions in the United States. Such ownership links may create excessive interconnectedness that discounts the stability of the financial system that consists of those commonly owned financial institutions. Hopefully the findings will provide policy implications for central banks to better monitor and supervise the financial institutions.
